(How does he DO that??)

The hell sequence is breathtaking! I'm with MovieClassics - I'm keen to see the 1924 version too.

Your review is terrific - you seemed to have fun with the "h-e-double hockey sticks" word! :)Silver Screeningshttps://www.blogger.com/profile/04955048716754142299noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3428647353853444922.post-18294628657630846622013-05-11T12:19:21.010-04:002013-05-11T12:19:21.010-04:00I wonder if the bitterness came from the fact that...I wonder if the bitterness came from the fact that it was his last film for Fox before moving to MGM, and Fox didn't utilize him as well as they could have. By the way, I highly recommend James Curtis's biography of Tracy, which came out last year. He was a very complicated man, haunted by guilt and shame issues. (I've also read that the 1924 film might incorporate footage from an even earlier lost German expressionist film!) Also enjoyed the carnival atmosphere in this film and the gambling ship. A shame Spencer Tracy had such a low opinion of the film, as I think he does a fine job in it. JudyAnonymousnoreply@blogger.com
